Chief Executive Officer
Austin Everett
As CEO of Mahaffey Apartment Company, Austin Everett is responsible for overseeing financial strategy, asset management, debt portfolio management, and new development initiatives. Since joining the company in 2018, he has contributed to robust financial performance and responsible growth across the portfolio.
Before his role at Mahaffey, Austin served as vice president of finance at Grubb Properties and has held various positions in real estate valuation, advisory, and investment services. His experience spans multifamily development, finance, and investment management. Austin holds a B.A. in financial economics from the University of Detroit Mercy.

Stephanie Booker
Stephanie Booker provides strategic and operational leadership across the organization. She brings more than a decade of experience in multifamily and mixed-use real estate, with expertise in property management, operational performance, redevelopment, new construction, and team development.
Before joining Mahaffey, she served as assistant vice president of operations at City Club Apartments, where she oversaw a portfolio of 22 communities across seven states. She has also held regional leadership roles with Eureka Multifamily Group and Pennrose Management Company. Stephanie holds degrees in marketing and business administration with a concentration in accounting from La Roche University.

Andrew Sharp
Andrew Sharp serves as controller for Mahaffey Apartment Company, bringing a strong background in accounting, finance, and real estate operations. He began his career with PricewaterhouseCoopers and later worked with VF Corporation, gaining valuable experience in auditing and financial management across a global portfolio.
Before joining Mahaffey, he held leadership positions at Detroit Trading Company and Coretek, where he served as chief financial officer. Andrew earned his accounting degree from Western Michigan University's Haworth College of Business, where he was a four-year member of the Broncos football team.
Pre-Construction Manager – Esterline Construction
Chris Piazza
Chris Piazza serves as Pre-Construction Manager at Esterline Construction, overseeing the transition between design, development, and permitting as the company's in-house professional engineer. He earned a degree in civil engineering in 2002 and began his career with the Florida Department of Transportation.
In 2012, he transitioned to private consulting and joined the Esterline team in 2020. Chris brings extensive expertise in engineering, infrastructure, and project planning. He is a licensed Professional Engineer and a state-certified underground utility & excavation contractor.

Mark T. Mahaffey
Mark Mahaffey joined the family business in 1969, bringing leadership experience from his service as a U.S. Naval officer and a degree from the University of Notre Dame. Throughout his career, he has been involved in all aspects of the company's development, construction, marketing, and management operations, helping guide the continued growth of the Carlton Arms Communities.
Today, he serves on the Board of Directors of Mahaffey Apartment Company. He remains part of a multigenerational legacy that includes several family members who have dedicated decades of service to the organization.

William H. Mahaffey
As the son of James Mahaffey, Jr., William H. Mahaffey has developed expertise in construction, property management, and community development across the Mahaffey portfolio. He gained experience in construction coordination and management roles throughout several Carlton Arms communities before advancing to leadership positions overseeing site selection, land acquisitions, development, and construction activities.
Working closely with municipalities on zoning and development matters, he plays an important role in guiding the company's growth.

Tom Mahaffey
Tom Mahaffey, son of Mark Mahaffey, joined Mahaffey Apartment Company in 1997 after graduating from Elon University. He began his career with the company at Lynn Lake Arms. He later served as executive director during the development of Carlton Arms of Ocala before leading operations at Carlton Arms of Bradenton.
Based in the St. Petersburg office, Tom is actively involved in overseeing property management, planning, and development initiatives across the portfolio. He serves as a partner and director on the Board of Directors of Mahaffey Apartment Company.

Daniel M. Esterline
As the grandson of founder Thomas Mahaffey Jr., Dan Esterline continues the family legacy of leadership within Mahaffey Apartment Company. He earned both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Florida and began his career with the company in 1989 at Lynn Lake Arms.
He later served as Executive Director of Carlton Arms of St. Petersburg, gaining extensive experience in community operations and management. He currently serves as Director on the Board of Directors and as a Partner at Mahaffey Apartment Company.

Jane Ferguson
Jane Ferguson, granddaughter of founder Thomas Mahaffey Jr., joined the family business after graduating from the University of Vermont in 1979. She gained valuable leasing and property management experience in Indianapolis before relocating to Florida, where she supported the development of Carlton Arms of Bradenton.
She later served as executive director of Lynn Lake Arms and Coquina Key Arms. Today, Jane oversees the company's marketing efforts and guides management and development initiatives.

Suzanne B. Gray
Suzanne B. Gray joined the Mahaffey organization in 1976 as executive director of West Lake Arms after earning her degree from the University of Tennessee and gaining multifamily management experience with a national REIT. She later oversaw multiple Mahaffey communities before relocating to Florida in 1986, where she served as executive vice president, working closely with the company's leadership on the daily operations of the Florida portfolio.
Suzanne retired from her day-to-day responsibilities in 2020 but continues to serve as a director on the board.

Richard T. Earle III
Richard Earle is a St. Petersburg native who has practiced law in the area since earning his Juris Doctor from the University of Florida College of Law in 1966. In addition to a distinguished legal career spanning more than five decades, he earned a Master of Divinity degree from the Episcopal Divinity School and was ordained as an Episcopal priest in 2017.
Richard has served as legal counsel to Mahaffey Apartment Company, its affiliated entities, and the Mahaffey family for more than 40 years. He currently serves as a director on the board.

Ward Curtis
Ward Curtis brings extensive leadership experience in financial services, investment management, banking, and private equity. After more than 15 years as an executive with a Fortune 500 financial services company, he founded, invested in, and served on the boards of numerous companies in the trust, banking, and investment management industries.
He currently serves as chairman of Sabal Trust Company and as a director of TMI Trust Company. Ward earned both his BSBA and MBA from the University of Central Florida and is a graduate of the Tuck Executive Program at Dartmouth College.

Rick Barry
Rick Barry joined Mahaffey Apartment Company over 35 years ago and has built a career spanning community development, construction, and operations. Most recently, he oversaw new developments from land acquisition and planning through construction, lease-up, stabilization, and management, ensuring that each project reflected the company's long-standing principles.
His extensive experience and industry relationships have played a key role in the company's continued growth and success. Although Rick retired from day-to-day responsibilities in 2025, he continues to serve as a director on the board.

Mark Bradburn
Mark Bradburn serves on the Board of Directors of Mahaffey Apartment Company while also working as a private wealth advisor with Morgan Stanley as part of a Private Wealth Management and Institutional Consulting team. With nearly three decades of experience in the securities industry, he specializes in helping clients navigate complex financial situations with clear, practical solutions.
Mark is actively involved with High Point University, where he frequently speaks and was named the university's Wealth Management Innovator in Residence in 2024.

David M. Doll
David M. Doll is the founder and CEO of Sequent Asset Management, a Houston-based multifamily office focused on investment management and succession planning for families and closely held businesses. With nearly 40 years of experience, he has held leadership roles in trust, banking, consulting, and investment management, including serving as president and CEO of Kanaly Trust Company.
David also serves as CEO of the L.E. Jones Company and chairs the board of its affiliate in Chengdu, China. A graduate of the University of Houston, he is widely recognized for his expertise in estate and succession planning.
